Presentation - "New Phase of Integration of Georgian Science into the European Area- New Opportunities for Scientists"

On October 7, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted a presentation "New Phase of Integration of Georgian Science into European Area - New Opportunities for Scientists", which was attended by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister's Advisor on Education Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia - Zviad Gabisonia, Rector of Tbilisi State University George Sharvashidze representatives of scientific and academic community.

Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Minister Michael Batiashvili spoke about the importance of membership of our country in the EU Interstate Organization for Science and Innovation – EURAXESS, this is a real opportunity for Georgian scientists, all scientific institutions to benefit from privileges of EURAXESS member states - EU countries and high-tech countries such as the US, Japan, Israel. “Our goal is to have as many scientists to have access to this portal, to major international projects and programs as possible from January 1; This year was very important because of European integration in the field of education and science - we also became members of ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) and EQAR (European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education).

Director General of the Rustaveli Foundation, spoke about the idea of ​​EURAXESS - an organization that allows member states to have direct access to not only EU, European Commission calls, but also member states' domestic calls that we did not have before - Georgia is the 41st member of EURAXESS which means access to more than 15,000 organizations, universities and business representatives, and more than 25,000 researchers worldwide; Zviad Gabisonia gave a presentation on EURAXESS's mission and services, capabilities, as well as the technical side of how to register on the portal.

Giorgi Sharvashidze, the Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, emphasized the fact that the University will conduct international trainings in the field of ERC grants, he noted that more efforts are needed to make Georgian scientists more competitive on a global scale, so that the country took its worthy place on the scientific map of the world.
