On June 21, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia Prof. Zviad Gabisonia and Deputy Director General Dr. Jaba Samushia met with professors and teachers of higher education institutions of the region at Shota Meskhia State University of Zugdidi. The rector of the university Teona Khupunia opened the meeting. Prof. Zviad Gabisonia reviewed the major aspects of science reform, as well as, priority scientific fields at the state level, planned projects regarding applied research, commercialization of scientific outcomes, strengthening science and business links. Director General of SRNSFG also reviewed scheduled programmes and reforms within the foundation, which also include adopting modern technology in science management. Another part of the meeting was dedicated to the issue of modernization scientific infrastructure and opening new science-labs. The final part of the meeting was Q&A session.

After the meeting at the University, Prof. Gabisonia met the Mayor of the Zugdidi Mr. Gega Shengelia and discussed about the Science Fest 2019 and the activities, which are scheduled to be held in Zugdidi (Including Science picnic – September 26). The Mayor of Zugdidi expressed full readiness to support science picnic and other events as part of Science Fest 2019.
